# Grandstream UCM 6XXX

This guide explains how to register a SIP connection to a Grandstream UCM 6100+ (firmware 1.0.18+) with Flowroute, set up DIDs for E911 routing, set up international calling on a Flowroute account, and submit CNAM updates.

## **Registration**

- Go to our Customer Portal and select the “**Interconnections**” menu on the left and then select the “**Registration**” tab to get the “**Username/Tech Prefix**” number and password. These are referred to as the “**SIP Credentials**” in our Portal. You will enter these into the Grandstream.
- Access the Grandstream UCM user interface and click on VoIP Trunks, then click “**Add SIP Trunk**”. This will bring you to the display pictured below.

- Name the SIP Trunk whatever you like in the “**Provider Name**” field.
- Enter your preferred Flowroute PoP as the “**Host Name**” and use Port 5060. You can view our POPs by navigating to Interconnections and then Registration in the Flowroute Customer Portal, or view the list at this link: [https://support.flowroute.com/523626-Interconnection-with-Flowroute-PoPs](https://support.flowroute.com/523626-Interconnection-with-Flowroute-PoPs)

- Check the boxes “**Need Registration**” and “**Allow outgoing calls if registration fails**”.
- Enter the Flowroute “**Tech Prefix**” into the “**Username**” field.
- Enter your password from the Flowroute “**SIP Credentials**” into the Grandstream “**Password**” field.
- Enter the “**Tech Prefix**” into the “**AuthID**” field.

- Save the configuration and then navigate back into the Grandstream Trunk configuration settings to make several more changes. In the “**Basic Settings**” tab, enter the Flowroute POP you selected.
- Click on the “**Advanced Settings**” tab and choose the PCMU (G.711) and G.729 audio codecs.
- Change the “**DID Mode**” to “**Request-line**”.

- If you have a NAT policy causing the contact header in the Register packet to display a Private IP, you will need to correct it to show a Public IP. In the Grandstream user interface, navigate to the “**PBX**” menu and choose “**SIP Settings**,” then click the NAT tab. Enter the Public IP into the “**External Host**” field and add your local network address for the device into the “**Local Network Address**” field. Save the changes to complete the Grandstream registration setup.

You can check the phone system registration status in the Flowroute Customer Portal “**Interconnections**” menu in the “**Status**” tab.

## **Dialing patterns**

- Flowroute requires that you prepend a 1 for 10-digit dialing for outbound domestic US and Canada calling.
- Strip the 011 in the dialing pattern for outbound international calls.
- For 3-digit dialing, Flowroute supports 711, 911, 933, and 988.

## **E911 routing**

Use the following method in the Customer Portal if you need to set up a number with E911 geolocation info for emergency responders. Navigate to DIDs, check the relevant DID, select “**Assign/Enter E911 Profile**” in the dropdown action menu above the DID table, and then confirm the action. Assign an existing address or add a new address on the following screen and confirm the order.

## **International calling**

International dialing also needs to be enabled in the Customer Portal. Navigate to “**Preferences**” and then select the “**Fraud Control**” tab. There is a toggle for “**International Calling**” plus other international calling restriction options.

Flowroute charges per minute for international calling, so funds will also need to be added to the account balance for international usage. This is done by navigating to the “**Dashboard**” panel of the Customer Portal and then entering an amount into the Balance box and submitting by clicking “**Add Funds**.” The account balance is also displayed in the bottom-left corner of the Customer Portal UI at all times and can be expanded by clicking on it to quickly add funds.

Below that is a redirect button to the “**Balance Management**” page which can also be manually navigated to via “**Preferences**” then clicking the “**Balance Management**” tab. This page logs the payment card on file, the option to set up low balance notifications, and automatic payments.

## **Setting CNAM**

CNAM is set by navigating to “**DIDs**” and then checking the relevant number to apply the “**Set CNAM Storage Preset**” action. This loads another page which allows you to assign an existing CNAM value or create a new value. Once you complete the order, allow up to 5 days for the CNAM change to fully propagate.
