Set up a Destination Whitelist

Destination Whitelist

Destination Whitelist feature allows you to choose countries that you'll always be able to call, regardless of the outgoing rate. You can use a whitelist in addition to setting a maximum outbound rate. Calls to countries added to the whitelist can always be offered, regardless of any rate change or a lower maximum outbound rate is set. For example, if you've set a maximum outbound rate of US $0.0299 for outbound calls, but you know you will always need to call India, you can add India to a whitelist. By adding to the whitelist, any call to India will be allowed to go through; calls to any other country will be blocked, given if the outbound rate to that country is higher than the rate specified for the maximum outbound rate.

Strict Destination Whitelist

To further secure your account, you can create a strict destination whitelist. When this option is set on your account, only countries in the strict whitelist can be called, regardless of whether or not you've set a maximum outbound rate, or regardless of any outbound call rate charge. For example, if you add India to a strict whitelist, only outbound calls to India will be allowed through; outbound calls to all other countries will be blocked.

The Destination Whitelist feature allows you to select countries that can always be called, regardless of the outgoing rate. This can be used along with a maximum outbound rate.

Calls to whitelisted countries will always go through, even if the rate changes or a lower maximum outbound rate is set.

For example, if you set a maximum outbound rate of $0.0299 but need to call India, adding India to the whitelist ensures calls to India are always allowed, while calls to other countries will be blocked if their rates exceed the maximum.

For added security, you can create a strict destination whitelist. With this option, only countries in the strict whitelist can be called, regardless of the maximum outbound rate or any rate changes. For instance, if India is on the strict whitelist, only calls to India will be allowed, and calls to all other countries will be blocked.

Important: Fraudulent activity to countries on your whitelist is possible. We strongly recommend regularly reviewing your call detail records and account balance.

How to manage your whitelist configuration

  1. Log in to Flowroute Manage Portal.

  2. Click Preferences, and then click Fraud Control.

  3. Scroll down till you see the Destination Whitelist section.

  4. From the Country Code drop-down list, select the country you’d like to add to the whitelist. For this example, we are selecting India.

  5. Click +Add Country button. The country is now added to the list of countries to which outbound calls can be made, regardless of whether or not a maximum outbound rate is set.

    1. To remove a country from the whitelist, click Remove button next to that country.

    2. If a maximum outbound rate has been set on the account, that rule will now apply to the country removed from the whitelist.

  6. To activate a strict whitelist allowing calls only to those in the whitelist, use the Strict Whitelist switch (disable by default).

    1. Use the same switch to deactivate the Strict Whitelist. If a maximum outbound rate has been set on the account, that rule will now be enabled.

NOTE: Enabling a strict whitelist allows outbound calls to only those countries in the whitelist. A strict whitelist will override any maximum outbound rate you might have set. That is if the outbound rate to a country is less than that specified for the maximum outbound rate, and that country is not in the strict whitelist, calls to that country will be blocked.
