Set up a Destination Whitelist

Prev Next

The Destination Whitelist feature allows you to choose countries that you'll always be able to call, regardless of the outgoing rate. You can use a whitelist in addition to setting a maximum outbound rate.

Example: If you've set a maximum outbound rate of US $0.0299 for outbound calls, but you know you will always need to call India, you can add India to a whitelist. By adding it to the whitelist, any call to India will be allowed to go through. Calls to any other country will be blocked, given if the outbound rate to that country is higher than the rate specified for the maximum outbound rate.

Strict Destination Whitelist

To further secure your account, you can create a strict destination whitelist. When this option is set on your account, only countries in the strict whitelist can be called, regardless of any set maximum outbound rate, or regardless of any outbound call rate charge.

Example: If you add India to a strict whitelist, only outbound calls to India will be allowed through; outbound calls to all other countries will be blocked.

NOTE: Calls to whitelisted countries will always go through, even if the rate changes or a lower maximum outbound rate is set.

MONITOR: Fraudulent activity to countries on your whitelist is possible. We strongly recommend regularly reviewing your call detail records and account balance.

How to Manage Your Whitelist Configuration

  1. Log in to Flowroute Manage Portal.

  2. Click Preferences, and then click Fraud Control.

  3. Scroll down to the Destination Whitelist section.

  4. From the Country Code drop-down list, select the country you’d like to add to the whitelist. For this example, we are selecting India.

  5. Click the +Add Country button. The country is now added to the list of countries to which outbound calls can be made, regardless of whether or not a maximum outbound rate is set.

    1. To remove a country from the whitelist, click the Remove button next to that country.

    2. If a maximum outbound rate has been set on the account, that rule will now apply to the country removed from the whitelist.

  6. To activate a strict whitelist allowing calls only to those in the whitelist, use the Strict Whitelist switch (disabled by default).

    1. Use the same switch to deactivate the Strict Whitelist. If a maximum outbound rate has been set on the account, that rule will now be enabled.
