Flowroute has a low balance notification function for post-paid (credit) accounts. (For pre-paid accounts, refer to Low Balance Notifications for Pre-Paid Accounts.) It sends a message to the primary email address on file when a credit balance reaches a certain amount. The customer can then pay the account ahead of schedule or take other actions as needed. For steps to change the notifications, go to Set Low Balance Notification.
Determine Level of Low Balance Notification
In post-paid accounts, the Low balance threshold must account for the line of credit. Setting the Low balance threshold to 100 (positive one-hundred) might sound like “send notification when $100 of credit is left,” but it actually means $100 in pre-paid balance, causing a notification to be sent immediately. Similarly, a Low balance threshold of -100 (negative one hundred) is when only $100 of the $500 credit limit is used, so a notification would be sent probably far too early and too frequently.
Consider the Low balance threshold to be the amount of credit used. If the customer would like a notification when $50 of their $500 credit is left—when $450 of the credit is used—set Low balance threshold to -450 (negative four-hundred-and-fifty). If the customer has credit of $5,000 and they would like a notification when $2,800 credit is left—when $2,200 of the credit is used— set Low balance threshold to -2200 (negative two-thousand-two-hundred).

When setting a low balance notification, it could be worth testing low balances with different methods to discover the best level of funding and balance for notification. For example, setting the low balance notification amount close to the credit limit can indicate that the credit limit needs to be adjusted or that the balance notification level should be changed. Another method is to set the balance notification at a level that describes the expected use. If this level is exceeded, the additional use can be reviewed to know what caused it.
Log into the account at any time to set the threshold, change it, or stop notifications. All numbers are based on U.S. dollars.
Set Low Balance Notification
Log into the account at any time to set the threshold limit.
Log into Flowroute Manage.
Click Preferences, and then click Balance Management.
Scroll to the Low Balance Notifications section.
Click in the Low balance threshold field and enter the dollar amount. No commas or decimals are needed unless you are writing the balance to the cent.
Click the slider next to Disabled. The Diabled label changes to Enabled, the system adds a decimal and zeros to the entered number, unless they have been added, and sets the low balance. When the balance reaches this amount, an email notification is sent to the billing email address stating the account has reached that threshold.
Note: By default, low balance notification is disabled.

Adjust Low Balance Notification Level
The threshold for notification can be changed at any time. These steps assume a low balance threshold is already set.
Log into Flowroute Manage.
Click Preferences, and then click the Balance Management tab.
Scroll to the Low Balance Notifications section.
To change the low balance threshold, enter the new low balance value into the Low balance threshold: field and click Adjust Threshold.
If notifications are too frequent, set the Low balance threshold closer to the credit limit.
For a credit limit of $1,000, instead of -900, enter -925.
If a notification was sent too close to the credit limit, set the Low balance threshold farther from the credit limit.
For the same credit of $1,000, instead of -900, enter -875.
Test any numbers until the best number for that account's requirements is found.
Disable Low Balance Notification
Log into the account at any time to disable notifications. These steps assume a low balance threshold is already set.
Log into Flowroute Manage.
Click Preferences, and then click the Balance Management tab.
Scroll to the Low Balance Notifications section.
Click the slider next to Enabled. The Enabled label changes to Disabled, the Low balance threshold: field is left blank, and no low balance notifications will be sent for any reason.
